jimmy buffett gulf coastScalpers, who are just as heartless and money hungry as BP, cash in on free Jimmy Buffett Gulf Coast benefit concert.

In an effort to support the livelihood of Gulf Shores, Alabama, Jimmy Buffett and CMT teamed up to host a live, absolutely free concert.  Fans could log on to Ticketmaster and get up to 4 tickets apiece, free of charge.

The whole idea behind this free concert entitled “CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live from the Gulf Coast” was to promote awareness of the ongoing BP Oil Spill tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico.

Sounds like an amazing idea, right? Host a free concert to support a tragedy that has affected so many American’s livelihoods. Despite the efforts of CMT, Jimmy Buffett, Zac Brown Band and Kenny Chesney to offer a free concert, scalpers soon turned a good deed into a quick way to make cash.

It seems as though scalpers quickly took the majority of the 35,000 tickets. They in turn posted them on eBay, in hopes to turn a profit on something that was meant to be free.

Jimmy Buffett & Friends Gulf Coast Benefit Concert tickets were reportedly going for up to $100 on eBay shortly after they had been released to the public for free.

EBay quickly responded to the heartless scalpers by banning all of the auctions containing the “free” tickets. This however will not stop them from still being sold in what is shameful and disrespectful to those people suffering in the Gulf. I hear you can still find the Jimmy Buffett & Friends Gulf Coast Benefit Concert up for sale on TicketExchange.

To all of you scalpers out there trying to make a quick buck. I wish nothing more than for you to be thrown in the gulf and engulfed in the oil in which you are exploiting to make a quick buck.

CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Love From the Gulf Coast will air July 11th at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.
