Michael Jackson: 50 Cent Prepares for Monster Track with King of Pop
50 Cent prepares for the release of his collaboration with the late Michael Jackson.
In what might be one of the more interesting collaborations I have heard in a while, Michael Jackson’s posthumous album which comes out in a few weeks will feature a track called “Monster” on which he collaborates with none other than 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson.
The entire collaboration came about when 50 Cent’s DJ, Whoo Kid, met Michael Jackson some time ago. Whoo Kid called 50 and told him Michael had a song he wanted him to hear and that he thought it would be perfect for them to collaborate on. 50 Cent, whose swagger is legendary, says he rarely gets nervous around stars, but that he was while talking to Jackson. “Mike is special. He’s different. I don’t know how to explain it,” 50 says of the conversation.
Sometime after Michael Jackson’s death, 50 Cent got a call from producer Teddy Riley who had worked on Jackson’s Dangerous album and was helping to put together the material for this new album. They got together and 50 heard the song for the first time and was excited. He felt it was like a 2010 version of “Thriller.”
50 Cent says he wishes he had the chance to work in the studio with Jackson because he was a legend. He goes on to say that he wanted to make the song special and bring something more to it. He changed up his trademark cadence so he sounds different and fits in well with the track. He says he was adjusting to the production.
There are some people who are not happy about this new Michael Jackson album getting released. They feel people are just trying to cash in on his legacy, but 50 Cent actually feels that people will eventually embrace this album. He claims it is not just a collection of left over stuff, but that it is the last really great material Jackson created. He feels Jackson fans will appreciate it and be happy that they have it.
A small clip of the song has leaked onto the internet, but that clip doesn’t include 50 Cent’s part in the song. Jackson’s album simply titled Michael will be released on December 14th.
