The 52nd Grammy Awards kicks off their nomination process with their annual Grammy Nomination Concert which will air live at 10|9c on December 1st on CBS. This year the show is coming to us from the Los Angeles based Club Nokia and is hosted by LL Cool J.

The list of performers is growing and rounding out to be an interesting and varied group. Among the performers is the newly added Train. They will join a lineup that already includes Justin Bieber, rapper B.o.B, country singer Miranda Lambert, Bruno Mars and Katy Perry.

This is the third year that the Grammy nominations have been announced in primetime using this format. Foo Fighters’ singer Dave Grohl, Paramore singer Hayley Williams and singer/actor Selena Gomez will be joined by Grammy legend Stevie Wonder as presenters.

With the show only being an hour long and featuring nominations for the major categories as well as performances by six different acts, do be shocked if we get some pairings and/or medleys of hits. I have a feeling Bruno Mars and B.o.B might team up to sing pieces of their own songs as well as some or all of their joint hit “Nothin’ On You.” In what could be a surprise, Hayley Williams could also join B.o.B for their hit Airplanes. I also won’t be shocked if Katy Perry does one of her recent hits and part of her new song “Firework.” It should be a fun night of music and nominations for anyone who is interested in the Grammys. Watching a concert and seeing some quick nominations beats the hell out of the boring old way they used to do it which was to just read it from a list at a press conference.

The actual Grammy Awards ceremony will air on February 13, 2011 at 8|7c on CBS.
