Lil Wayne: Bill Clinton Is My Homie!
Lil Wayne is being released from prison tomorrow and Bill Clinton wished him the best of luck.
Lil’ Wayne is getting out of prison tomorrow and he has some interesting well wishers. Last night, during an interview about the election, President Bill Clinton said he knew who Lil Wayne was. Of Wayne Clinton said, “This guy’s smart, and he’s got ability, and he’s got a new chance now.” He went on to add,”What I hope will happen is that he has a good life now.”
Lil’ Wayne entered jail on March 8th, 2010 to serve a one year sentence for gun charges. He is getting out early due to good behavior. Wayne hasn’t had it easy in prison. He has spent the better part of the last month in solitary confinement after getting caught sneaking an MP3 player into his cell. In solitary he would remain locked up for 23 hours each day and would not be allowed to talk or mingle with other prisoners. Wayne issued a statement after being sent to solitary that he would be okay and that he would use the time to reflect on himself and think about music.
Wayne is already one of raps most imaginative and off-the-wall characters. Imagine what 30 days of nothing but his own thoughts will bring out? It hasn’t been all bad news while Wayne was in jail. His most recent album, “I Am Not A Human Being” was recorded before he went to jail and was released on September 27th. It debuted at the top of the charts and is still in the top five. Always the innovator, I would bet on Lil Wayne‘s next record to be something completely different from what he has done in the past. He continually reinvents himself and this is the perfect chance to do it again. He may have served almost nine months in jail including the 30 days in solitary, but I doubt that will have broken his swagger. As Lil’ Wayne has said himself, “Confidence is the stain they can’t wipe off.”
Look for Weezy to come up with a unique way to express what he has gone through and learned. Maybe Bill Clinton will guest star on the album.
