Marines Cover Britney Spears on YouTube (Video)
The Marines of U.S. Marines 266 Rein and HMLA 169 might be the most famous military companies in the nation today. The two groups combined their (questionable) dancing skills, sense of humor and wild locations to produce a funny, memorable take on Britney Spears’ hit “Hold It Against Me.”
The Britney Spears – Marines cover video starts with the ominous “Somewhere deep in the heart of Afghanistan” and an aerial shot of their base. Then it cuts to soldiers dancing, working out and lip synching all over the base. The troops dance with each other and in formation. They have dramatic scenes in the dessert and on top of mountains. There is plenty of attitude, hip thrusting, overacting and goofy fun packed into this four minute gem that you can’t help but smile and laugh along with them.
It is good to see the soldiers getting a chance to have some fun and blow off some steam during their downtime and that they chose Britney Spears as their song of choice makes it just that much funnier. The video was uploaded just three days ago and already has around 240,000 views on their official account not to mention the dozens of copy posts many of which have thousands of views.
Britney Spears herself has seen the video and immediately tweeted her love for it writing, “I am in LOVE with this…I always knew our soldiers were fierce. Thanks for everything you guys do…” followed by a link to the video.
This isn’t 266 Rein’s first foray into videos. A while back they posted a video that showed a bunch of them jumping around and dancing to Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the USA.” For whatever reason, they removed that video from YouTube. This new video, however, has officially gone viral and is quickly making stars out of these servicemen and women. They deserve all the recognition they get for everything they do for this country. I find myself wondering what they have planned for the encore.
