Teenage Dream Katy Perry Is On The Rise
Teenage Dream Katy Perry is on the rise.
Katy Perry’s new album Teenage Dream is on pace to sell between 170,000 and 200,000 units during its first week of release, making it her first ever number one album. Even if sales are on the lower end of that estimate, that is enough to knock Eminem out of the number one spot on the Billboard charts where he has been firmly planted for the past seven weeks. Eminem and his album Recovery will most likely fall to number three on the charts.
Perry found some surprise competition on the charts from former American Idol winner Fantasia who’s album “Back To Me” is projected to sell 120,000-140,000 units this week and place her firmly in second place on the Billboard charts.
Katy’s large debut is a huge improvement over her last album, One Of The Boys, which sold 47,000 copies during its first week of release. That album peaked at number nine on the Billboard charts. Katy Perry has already released five singles from Teenage Dream which have sold a combined 4.7 million digital downloads. Among the singles are the smash hits California Gurls and Teenage Dream. California Gurls spent a total of six weeks at the top of the Hot 100 chart.
Katy Perry’s newest record has come with a whirlwind of promotion including her wearing very little on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Two big budget videos including a very steamy and sexy Teenage Dream video and a guest appearance by legendary rapper Snoop Dogg on California Gurls. No official tour dates have been announced, but expect news on that front soon.
