American Idol Gossip – Friday March 11, 2011
Last night American Idol 2011 aired its first “big” elimination.
It was the first “BIG” elimination round for American Idol this season. The performances were finished and it was left up to the voting public. (By the way, it was said that the American Idol 2011 performances on Wednesday night were taped and not live, because the producers felt the contestants weren’t ready to go live yet? WHAT? Isn’t that what the show is about, the best performances and who can cut it? ) Anyway, I digress.
Between all of the hype and the suspense, it came at the end of the show (no surprise there) that Ashthon Jones was sent packing. Her rendition of Diana Ross’s “When You Tell Me That You Love Me,” didn’t seem to cut it. She performed the song on Wednesday night, and was given the opportunity to perform it again on Thursday night to redeem herself. The second version may have been worse than the first time she did it. The American Idol judges didn’t like it and knew America made the right choice. Ashton was eliminated from the competition.
On a side note, Adam Lambert made an appearance and even performed himself. Big deal if you ask me. Personally, I don’t like the guy, but apparently a lot of people do. He sang an unplugged, acoustic version of his song “Aftermath.” He asked American Idol 2011 viewers to go to his website Adamofficial.com and listen to the dance remix of the song. Hopefully, that will be his only appearance on Idol this year. I really could do without him.
